Cold brew

I typed out yesterday’s entry early in the morning. I wasn’t feeling all right. I wanted to just get out of the office.

I convinced Alex to come with me out to lunch somewhere. Earlier, he was in the process of making some difficult document using one of the scripts I had created about a year ago. He was frustrated because the script input that other people created didn’t follow standards. Thus, it was causing him to do a lot of the work manually. This is a bloody dilemma for techwriting at my company. I mean, techwriting would make all these standards and specifications for people to follow. It’s only to make people’s work a lot easier. Of course, no one follows those standards. Why would they? The technical writing department has no bite.

I’m glad I’m out of that department.

Jay having a drink at workAnyway, back to the story. Alex felt pissed and decided that it was appropriate to take a long lunch to cool his head off. Originally, I was intending on heading to the plaza with the sushi place and the McDonalds, but as a last minute decision I turned right instead of left out of the building’s driveway. We ended up heading to East Side Mario’s. Hey, we were both shocked by my last minute decision. We ordered calamari rings as an appetizer, and as an impulse thing, I insisted that we both get pints of beer. So we did.

Well, that’s new. Drinking during work hours? Well, technically it’s the lunch hour. And technically one pint isn’t enough to get us drunk. We had a good time that lunch. It was enough to lift us out of our sad spirits.
