Still celebratin’

Well, sort of.

Way back, early in November, Jenelle bought me a Deep ‘n Delicious cake to celebrate my birthday. I stored it in the fridge hoping to eat it all later. Thing is, I’d forgotten about it for a good while. I found it again yesterday and thought, “man, I wonder if this thing is still OK…” Not one to shy away from eating “seemingly old, but in decent condition food,” I had a piece earlier today.

Now, it’s not like there was anything growing on it or anything, but regardless, it tasted a bit aged, but still edible. Time will tell whether it was a good idea or not.

It’s not the only aged thing I ate today. I had this bag of Dempsters bread that’s been sitting in the fridge for a long time. The only reason I don’t generally buy bread is that I hardly ever finish the loaf on time. It usually just sits there for extended periods getting no notice. This is true, especially of this term where I’ve been in absolutely no mood to cook (today I went to Wok Wagon for Cantonese Pork dinner combo…on Friday it was Domino’s Pizza). Anyway, I had a few slices of bread from that old loaf. It was still alright with some jam and butter.

Funny I mention this. This is almost a repeat of an entry I wrote in July 2003 about another old Dempster’s loaf. The only changes between that time and this time is that I used blueberry jam this time around, and thickness wasn’t Texas Style.
