Flying chow mein

It scares me to think that

  • everything is over in 1 week
  • I still have 4 exams to go
  • I only have 11 hours between my Digital Hardware and Sociology exam
  • I only have 2 days each to study for the other two courses whose midterms I bombed out on

But despite all this, I have a feeling that everything will be alright. For one thing, I’m getting away from this house, and certain inhabitants that won’t acknowledge my presence. Second, it finally gives me the chance to not bitch about being up to my neck in shit…

Which reminds me of a story my priest told today…but I’ll save that for tomorrow.

Third, I need a break. Fourth, I can’t wait to get back to an uncapped Internet connection. I hate having to limit my activities because of a 1.5GB/7 day limit. Plus, the University blocks your computer from using Bittorrent. What kind of shit is that? FIfth, I can get back to playing The Sims 2.

The weather outside…is interesting. This morning it was snowing. The ground outside was carpeted with crisp snow that made nice squeaky compaction noises with every step I took. This evening, I took a walk out to Wok Wagon to get some Cantonese Chow Mein, and the much of the snow had turned into slush. I looked up to the sky and couldn’t tell just what type of percipitation was falling. It felt like blowing snow, but it wasn’t bouncing off my leather coat all that easily. By the time I got to Wok Wagon, my jacket was soaked. Actually, soaked is not the word for leather…dunno. Looking at the puddles on the ground, it looked as if rain was falling, but the stuff falling down wasn’t falling fast.

Hell, I love snow. I really didn’t mind today’s weather. The thing is, I left my gloves and toque at home. It hard to enjoy it fully when my head and hands are getting numb. I guess I can’t say that I just plain forgot to bring them here. I haven’t been home in a month (holy crap!). I haven’t had a chance to get necessary winter supplies. Nonetheless, I’m still willing to go out there and brave the winter weather without fear.

Without fear, I say, but that doesn’t mean I’m immune to slips and falls. On the way to Wok Wagon, there’s a steep hill that I have to climb. Of course, that means, coming back, I have to climb down the hill. As I started down the hill, I took small steps because I wanted to make sure I had good enough traction. It didn’t help. I slipped and ended up on my ass. In my left had was a bag containing the chow mein. When I slipped it went flying up into the air. All I could think of was how it was so similar to how numerous cartoons/anime depicted comedic falls. Luckily, the chow mein didn’t pop open and spill all over my head. There are a few student houses by the hill, and as I tried to get up I quickly peered up to all the windows to see if anyone saw me slip. No one did (at least, none that I saw), which made me feel better. Of course, on the hill there’s now these telltale prints in the snow that tell the story; first, of normal prints, then long slides, then a big blob of something. Luckily, due to the nature of the weather, the snow didn’t stick to my clothes. Heh.

Anyway, back to cramming/studying.
