LAUNCHcast

Yes, I’m procrastinating.

One of my favourite things to do on the net now was something that Jenelle introduced me to many months ago. I totally enjoy listening to my own personalized streaming radio station at LAUNCHcast. Basically, you rate songs, artists, and albums that you’re currently listening to, and as time goes by the station learns and plays songs that you’ve rated well, and in genres that you seem to rate high. Currently, the genres that my station seems to be matching are Classic Rock, Hard Rock and Modern Rock. Go figure.

For instance, right now I’m listening to Björk, whom I’ve rated relatively well. Other artists played often on my station include: Alanis Morissette, Linkin Park, Evanescence, No Doubt, and Barenaked Ladies. It’s great to hear varied artists instead of the same artist on a single CD being looped repeatedly.

Now, you can listen to other genres as well. There are many themed stations available based on various genres or moods. You can also subscribe to other people’s stations. If they rate something high, there’s a chance it’ll appear on your station as well as part of their influence. Perhaps that explains why Ashlee Simpson is creeping into my station.

I’m currently subscribed to Jenelle’s station which is heavy on Pop. It’s a decent influence. It’s reminded me how I think some of the Spice Girls songs are still pretty cool–even long past the time they’ve gone out of style. Heh. It makes me listen to stuff that I normally wouldn’t attempt to listen to. Surprisingly, I’m enjoying Ashlee Simpson. She’s not as…Pop as I would’ve expected. I’m not skipping her songs. Interesting.

Anyway, start listening to LAUNCHcast. If you’re a Rogers subscriber, you get access to LAUNCHcast Plus, which is hell of a lot better.
