Alright, so today’s exam wasn’t as great as I had hoped, but that’s not what’s important. The important thing is that exams are finally over, and that means I can finally go home.

The priest and his sermon involving poop
I just remember this story because I’ve never heard a priest use the word “poop” so many times before.
———————–
So there was once this couple who were fortunate enough to have a set of twins born to them. The only thing was, as the children grew up, they seemed to have totally opposite personalities. One was an total pessimist, while the other was an eternal optimist. The parents had tried everyhting to get their children to be more normal, but there was nothing that the could do.
They eventually took them to a psychiatrist who examined them thoroughly. After the examination, the psychiatrist told the parents in private that something drastic had to be done. He suggested that the parents lock the pessimist in a room with every single toy imaginible. The room should have everything that a boy could possibly want. He suggested that they lock the optimist in a bare room with nothing but a big box full of poop. After a while, the children should change.
So, the parents went and did just that. They put the pessimist in the room full of toys, and put the optimist in the room with the big box of poop. After locking them in there for a few good hours, they went to check to see how their children were doing. They first went to the pessimistic child. When they opened the door, there was the child with a big frown on his face. He was saying things like “the batteries are all going to run out soon” and “This toy doesn’t have the cool kung-fu action like advertised”, and “I bet my brother has so much better things”.
A bit dismayed, they go over to the optimistic child’s room. When they poked their heads in they were astonished to see the child in the box, up to his neck in poop. They asked him what he was up to. He says, “HAHAHA! You can’t fool me! Somewhere down in here is a pony!”
Just a little bit more…
Cramming makes Jason miserable.
I’ve realized that I haven’t told the priest’s story yet. Probably will do it after I come back from the exam. Exam is at 9. I still have….5 hours to cram.
I hate my life.
BLUE
It’s been purchased. Great. Just what I need–another distraction the night before an exam. I’m ripping my CD’s in between study chunks.
LAUNCHcast
Yes, I’m procrastinating.
One of my favourite things to do on the net now was something that Jenelle introduced me to many months ago. I totally enjoy listening to my own personalized streaming radio station at LAUNCHcast. Basically, you rate songs, artists, and albums that you’re currently listening to, and as time goes by the station learns and plays songs that you’ve rated well, and in genres that you seem to rate high. Currently, the genres that my station seems to be matching are Classic Rock, Hard Rock and Modern Rock. Go figure.
For instance, right now I’m listening to Björk, whom I’ve rated relatively well. Other artists played often on my station include: Alanis Morissette, Linkin Park, Evanescence, No Doubt, and Barenaked Ladies. It’s great to hear varied artists instead of the same artist on a single CD being looped repeatedly.
Now, you can listen to other genres as well. There are many themed stations available based on various genres or moods. You can also subscribe to other people’s stations. If they rate something high, there’s a chance it’ll appear on your station as well as part of their influence. Perhaps that explains why Ashlee Simpson is creeping into my station.
I’m currently subscribed to Jenelle’s station which is heavy on Pop. It’s a decent influence. It’s reminded me how I think some of the Spice Girls songs are still pretty cool–even long past the time they’ve gone out of style. Heh. It makes me listen to stuff that I normally wouldn’t attempt to listen to. Surprisingly, I’m enjoying Ashlee Simpson. She’s not as…Pop as I would’ve expected. I’m not skipping her songs. Interesting.
Anyway, start listening to LAUNCHcast. If you’re a Rogers subscriber, you get access to LAUNCHcast Plus, which is hell of a lot better.
Back to Sociology cramming for me.
Spark Le – Spark It
I think I’m fried.
After my exam, I went to Tim Hortons to get a donut, and perhaps a drink. No, I didn’t break my vow of a coffee-less week. I opted for tea instead. I think I might need a stimulant in order to cram for Sociology (tomorrow at 9).
Anyway, I was waiting in line I saw this ad for gift baskets that they were offering. I noticed in the background that there was the word “peace” in faint letters. It blended in pretty well. I started looking around for other words and saw what seemed to be French. However, it wasn’t a phrase that made sense to me. I mean, “Spark le”? I thought it was so new ghetto French term for “peace” that I hadn’t heard of. I mean…”spark it”…it being, perhaps, a peaceful lifestyle? Who knew?
After more careful examination though, it turned out that I was looking at the word “sparkle”. Well, what the hell happened?
Anyway, Merry Christmas, and may “spark it” happen on Earth.
Flying chow mein
It scares me to think that
- everything is over in 1 week
- I still have 4 exams to go
- I only have 11 hours between my Digital Hardware and Sociology exam
- I only have 2 days each to study for the other two courses whose midterms I bombed out on
But despite all this, I have a feeling that everything will be alright. For one thing, I’m getting away from this house, and certain inhabitants that won’t acknowledge my presence. Second, it finally gives me the chance to not bitch about being up to my neck in shit…
Which reminds me of a story my priest told today…but I’ll save that for tomorrow.
Third, I need a break. Fourth, I can’t wait to get back to an uncapped Internet connection. I hate having to limit my activities because of a 1.5GB/7 day limit. Plus, the University blocks your computer from using Bittorrent. What kind of shit is that? FIfth, I can get back to playing The Sims 2.
The weather outside…is interesting. This morning it was snowing. The ground outside was carpeted with crisp snow that made nice squeaky compaction noises with every step I took. This evening, I took a walk out to Wok Wagon to get some Cantonese Chow Mein, and the much of the snow had turned into slush. I looked up to the sky and couldn’t tell just what type of percipitation was falling. It felt like blowing snow, but it wasn’t bouncing off my leather coat all that easily. By the time I got to Wok Wagon, my jacket was soaked. Actually, soaked is not the word for leather…dunno. Looking at the puddles on the ground, it looked as if rain was falling, but the stuff falling down wasn’t falling fast.
Hell, I love snow. I really didn’t mind today’s weather. The thing is, I left my gloves and toque at home. It hard to enjoy it fully when my head and hands are getting numb. I guess I can’t say that I just plain forgot to bring them here. I haven’t been home in a month (holy crap!). I haven’t had a chance to get necessary winter supplies. Nonetheless, I’m still willing to go out there and brave the winter weather without fear.
Without fear, I say, but that doesn’t mean I’m immune to slips and falls. On the way to Wok Wagon, there’s a steep hill that I have to climb. Of course, that means, coming back, I have to climb down the hill. As I started down the hill, I took small steps because I wanted to make sure I had good enough traction. It didn’t help. I slipped and ended up on my ass. In my left had was a bag containing the chow mein. When I slipped it went flying up into the air. All I could think of was how it was so similar to how numerous cartoons/anime depicted comedic falls. Luckily, the chow mein didn’t pop open and spill all over my head. There are a few student houses by the hill, and as I tried to get up I quickly peered up to all the windows to see if anyone saw me slip. No one did (at least, none that I saw), which made me feel better. Of course, on the hill there’s now these telltale prints in the snow that tell the story; first, of normal prints, then long slides, then a big blob of something. Luckily, due to the nature of the weather, the snow didn’t stick to my clothes. Heh.
Anyway, back to cramming/studying.
Performance Machine
Especially during exam time, I’d like to think of my body as some sort of command-performance machine. If I tell it to study for 5 hours, it should do so. If I tell it to get 3 hours of sleep, it should do so. That’s all well and good, but drinking coffee tends to hijack the system. It’s evil.
Last night at about 9, I had a large coffee in an effort to keep me somewhat alert. At about 2, I was yawning uncontrolably and decided that I needed to get at least a few hours of sleep. I had full intention of getting up three hours later to get back to the books. The thing is, the coffee kept me buzzed for a very long time. In the silence, I could feel the effects of the caffiene coarsing through my veins. If I wasn’t feeling tired, I was feeling hungry. My stomach was growling very loudly. All of this continued until some time past 4. Because of the late start, my whole schedule was set off course. I ended up waking up at 8, thus losing 3 hours of valuable cram time.
Coffee, you must wait until after the exam period. I will not let you do that to me again.
