Exhibiting my limited attention span

Boss was coming around introducing a new guy to all the workers in the department. They dropped by my cube making me think, “Well, that’s nice of him to introduce the guy to the temp.” Hell, my boss even remembered my name. Why was I so amazed by that? He seemed to blank out for one or two moments though trying to come up with it.

He introduced me as working on a specific project. I think I zoned out or something. I thought boss was talking about the new guy, so I said, “OK”. All I got was a strange look from the boss, with him asking, “Well, are you?” I think I was still zoned out, because it took me a moment or two before I enthusiastically said, “yeah yeah!” He followed up with “what are you doing?” Again, I had to take a moment or two before I stumbled through explaining what I was doing–all this despite working on the damn project for what seems like forever. Heh. I’m sure my boss thinks I’m either an idiot, or really eccentric, but whatever.

I’m both.
