Pistachios and beer

It’s Labour Day. I spend a good chunk of today over at a neighbour’s place trying to fix their computer. They originally had Windows 98 on there, and for whatever reason Explorer (the main OS core) gave up right at the beginning of every boot.

No, that’s not a good thing at all.

So, I spent a good few hours installing WIndows XP Pro and various other protective things like a firewall and antivirus. It brings back memories of when I was working in IT. It was excruciatingly boring doing it back then, but this time it wasn’t so bad. The neighbours fed me, and later gave me anchovies, pistachios and beer. Hey, can’t go wrong.

They’re really helpful to us. Whenever there’s some home improvement project that my father has, the neighbour comes over to help. It’s great. So, I figured that helping them out would be the least I could do. Our families are always inviting each other over whenever there are parties or what not. We’re all on good terms.

Anyway, perhaps as another thank you for helping out with the computer, they sent over some barbecued skewered meat. It’s pretty good to know that there are people out there watching out for us.
