I don’t know if this has anything to do with the recent hot weather, or whether I’m going through some chemical changes making me irresistible to bugs, but over the past few days I’ve gotten a ridiculous amount of mosquito bites. OK, so “ridiculous” may be a bit of hyperbole, but seriously, all season the most I’ve ever had at one time was one bite, and those were few and far between. Today, I’m counting 5 or 6 itchy spots. It’s taking a lot of willpower not to give in an scratch the areas till they’re raw. Sometimes the battle is a losing battle.

It kind of reminds me of when I was growing up in the burbs west of Toronto. Back then, I remember times when I had 13 or 14 bites all at once. Damn, those were miserable itchy summers. Back then, I didn’t really use bug spray. I don’t think they helped all that much. Nowadays, with all off this talk of West Nile Virus, maybe I should start. Maybe I should go back to wearing jeans. However, with all of these 30 degree days, it’d be a bit uncomfortable. I guess it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make if it means that I won’t be as itchy.

Too late now though, isn’t it?
