Today marks a first for me during my time as someone who runs (I’m still hesitant to call myself a “runner,” even after all this time). After about 4.5K, I started feeling some light rain. I didn’t think much about it because I knew it was coming according to the weather reports. I saw quite a few gaps in the clouds overhead, so I thought it would disappear by the end of our run. At the last 700m or so of our route, the skies just opened up and started dumping rain on us like mad. Luckily for me, I was wearing my FOC jacket (which really makes for a good sports/light running jacket), however, I wasn’t wearing my hat so I was getting pretty soaked. My instructor was shouting: “shiiiiit!” The group of us ended up having to wait for the stop light to turn. We were all commiserating over our bad luck. When the light turned, we all ran straight for our vehicles. We just wanted to get right out of there.
So, here I am at home, trying to warm up and not get sick. I don’t regret getting out there at all. In fact, I’m kind of proud that I still kept at it despite everything. Though, all things considered, I couldn’t really stop, could I? Anyway, I do feel good though about running. Although, if I’m feeling downright rotten tomorrow, I’ll actually have a good reason to take a day off work.
I guess…either way…
I WIN!
