Chosen clinic; urge to create…

I’ve decided: I’m doing the 10K clinic. I complain about being slow all too often, but I figure that if I find the right pace I should be fine. I start this Thursday. Craaaaaazy. From what I’ve been told, we’re going to start off by “building the foundation.” This will consist of running 6K route consistently at a slow pace, three times a week for 5 weeks. I know I’m alright with the distance right now, so if I’m required to go slower, I’m in the clear. I’m pretty psyched.

So anyway, yesterday I wrote about wanting to bake but not having the right ingredients. Today, I went out and got milk and butter. This afternoon, I made a batch of lemon squares. This is one of my most favourite recipes to do because it’s so damn easy to do. The results are also kind of impressive if done right, making you look like you know your way around the kitchen. Eh, of course, that may not be true: I’m proof! After making the squares, I still had an urge to create some more. I spotted a honeydew melon on the counter and decided to do something with it. I made a honeydew melon chiffon cake. Ooh, sounds fancy, doesn’t it? In actuality, it tasted nasty. When the cake was rising in the oven, it was looking fantastic. My mother needed the oven as soon as possible, so after the required time I took the cake out of the oven. Moments after I did, the sucker just deflated. It ended up looking like a nasty mess of a failure. I was so disappointed.

Tomorrow, being Thanksgiving, I’ll probably be spending a lot of time cooking with mom. It sort of helps to centre myself to do the mundane domestic stuff, eh? After working hard day after day in the high tech world, I need to do this type of thing once in a while to help me appreciate home life. It’s all good.
