The word rotisserie is derived from the French word rostir meaning “to roast.”
Now you know.
I’m not sure why the urge came over me to set a whole chicken up over the barbecue. Earlier today I saw the chicken in a steel bowl on the counter marinating in some spices. I thought out loud that it would be nice to have a rotisserie set up over the barbecue to cook the sucker. My mother informed me that the barbecue came with a rotisserie kit. It’s just that no one’s ever bothered to set it up and learn how to use it. Well, it took me about half an hour of fiddling with the kit but I actually managed to get it up and running. The result?
Pure chicken-y goodness.
