Debate scheduling

Good Lord, man. Which brain decided to schedule the Canadian leaders’ English debate on the same day that the American vice-presidential debate was going to happen? I’m flipping between the two debates right now–I can’t seem to settle on one or the other. To be fair, I’m guessing that when it was scheduled the powers that be didn’t know that the vice-presidential debate would garner so much interest. At this point, what’s done is done.

Ultimately, I know I need to be paying attention to the Canadian debate. I need this info. I’m sure I can leave something like The Daily Show to decipher and deconstruct the American debate.

Sometimes I question why Canadian politics isn’t more “sexy” or more exciting. It certainly doesn’t seem to carry around the same air of drama that goes on south of the border. Thing is, I guess there just doesn’t need to be that level of sensationalism. I can see that the passion is there from all of them though. With all of the differing points of view I can only hope that the country will be steered in a direction that serves the best interests of the most people.

Canadian politics aren’t sexy. Too bad really. They could be though, ever since allowing May into the debate, there could be a huge Harper-Layton-Dion-Duceppe-May love pentagon. Now THAT would be sexy. The breeze blowing through Harper’s seemingly unmovable hair as he gazes longingly at May, the tragically sad longing in his eyes as he realizes that a match between a Conservative and a Green is one that can never be… Now THAT is a debate that would make me more inclined to do my voterly duty and turn on the tv to watch the debate.

No kidding, eh? Although, to be honest isn’t the Green Party platform a little more right than the Liberals? So, a Harper-May affair may not be too too far fetched. :P
