Just a short one today. Why? Well, I’m a little bit concerned for my health and I’m guessing I’m just in need of some quality rest, especially after this evening’s run. Dramatic, much? Perhaps. Actually, what I’m concerned about is something that happened to me as I was heading downstairs from the streetcar to the subway.
Earlier before that, at work, I’d managed to drink down two teapots-worth of tea. That’s over two litres–which seems like a lot. And yes, it really is. By the end of the work day I was mildly buzzed and feeling off-balance. On the streetcar, the stop and go motion was making me feel uneasy. I tried closing my eyes, but that just made it worse. At the station as I stepped off I just felt like I was walking in some sort of semi-conscious dream state. It’s hard to explain. Now, heading down to track level, I felt like everyone was walking in slow motion. As I looked down I was surprised by what I saw. Underneath the feet of this woman in heels, I could see a bright orange glow. It was just such an unnatural sight that I had to look around to see if someone had a weird light source of sorts. Of course, there was no source. The colour reminded me of a bright orange highlighter. She was carrying an attache case, and suddenly the case started glowing orange too. I wanted to call out to her to ask why the hell she was glowing orange, but decided not to because I knew I was being markedly insane.
That might have been the end of it, but all of a sudden everyone was glowing orange under foot. Shit, everyone was turning into a bloody oompa-loompa. I rubbed my eyes a couple of times to check if that would make everything return to normal. However, nothing. I kept on seeing the glow up until I got to mid-platform and rested against the wall. Suddenly the glow faded. I looked around and everyone was back to normal. Or rather, I guess I was back to normal.
No, I wasn’t drugged, unless someone swapped my loose leaf tea with something else that’s “herbal.” I think I’m just mentally tired. I’m mildly freaked out by this whole event, but I suspect everything will be normal again once the morning rolls around.
