I’m seriously irritated that I haven’t been able to socialize and catch up with people as of late. It’s bad enough having to be home for the last month due to illness. Now that I’m at the tail end of it, I was looking forward to meeting up with the guys yesterday, but it wasn’t to be. At work, we’ve got several releases coming up, and only two of us to support the work (one is on vacation, and the other is new). The work kept me there for longer than I wanted which was frustrating.
The next two weekends won’t be all that great for seeing friends either because I’ll be on vacation in the American Southwest. So really, if there’s anyone who I haven’t seen in a long time, I really apologize. The situation and timing isn’t quite ideal, but I have to deal with it, you know? Forgive?
Anyway, so yeah, my mother and I heading to Arizona to visit my aunt and uncle. All of my aunts from NY are also heading there, so it’s going to be a good time. My mother and I want to experience what American Thanksgiving is like. It’s so much more of a bigger deal down there than it is here in Canada. I really wonder why that’s true. I don’t think we’re any less thankful. More than anything, I’m going to assume that the day is just more rooted in tradition there. You know what I’m looking forward to? I look forward to an excuse to eat turkey. Like I mentioned in the past, the three of us here can’t justify cooking a whole turkey. Frankly, I wouldn’t look forward to eating turkey related meals for the two weeks after. Well hey, if there’s so many more of us, then it won’t be so bad.
Maybe one thing I’m not looking forward to is the fact that my family there is going to do everything in their power to stuff me even more than the turkey. Yeah, it’ll be appreciated, however I just can’t be too relaxed with my food intake, right? Eternal vigilance!
It’s all still a week away, but the anticipation is already building to great levels. I need a break! I need to get away from work. I haven’t gone all that far away since Japan last year, so this should be awesome.
